The day I received my Joining Letter...

Hi Friends,

Here comes my first post.

A year after I got the offer letter, I got a call from a friend saying that he got the joining letter and the ILP would be in Trivandrum. Till that time, I had heard enough about the training centre in Trivandrum and bubbles of happiness started flowing through by blood with the thoughts of ILP. From that moment onwards, I desperately waited for my joining letter.

Days passed, and still there was no sign of any courier on my name and suddenly one day I got a call from another friend of mine, who had received the offer letter along with me. In all, there were four of us. She told me that she's just received the joining letter and ILP would be in Trivandrum. Well, that was quite expected. I had almost made my mind for ILP in Trivandrum. I started googling around for more information about the training centre at Trivandrum and about the ILP itself. Few days later, when I was just relaxing at home, I got a call from third friend and my patience collapsed. Now, I eagerly wanted to know about what had happened to my Joining Letter? Many questions starting popping up in my mind, did they forget to send me the letter? Did it get lost in the transit? What if I don’t get the letter on time? Should I call HR? Many of them illogical...

And finally the day came. One fine morning, I saw a courier person at my door with a big white cover in his hand with three bold letters written on it in blue color - "Tata Consultancy Services". I literally jumped with joy. I was so happy to see my joining letter that I had almost forgot to sign the courier slip that the person was asking me to sign.

With the great excitement, I opened the Joining Letter and for next few moments I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was stunned. The shocking thing that I saw in that letter was the place of joining. It was not Trivandrum; it was Hyderabad. I was completely thoughtless for a minute. It was totally unexpected.

But after so much of wait, I had at last received my Joining Letter :-)

I had called up the TCS help line and they told me the domain I would be working for as ITIS. Can u plz detail me about ITIS.I have gone through a no. of articles on the web and those articles are expressing TCS-ITIS as rubbish as compared to IT development.

After reading those articles, I knew that U wud be best person to solve all my queries as u handle and answer each and every query so nicely in ur articles specially in that "Accommodation" one.

I have a series of questions regarding this ITIS STREAM.
In those articles on the web most of the people are suggesting not to join the ITIS STREAM of TCS.
Kindly help me in this as i am in a state of dismay.

Ques.-- where can i expect my ILP for ITIS.

Ques.-- is ITIS less privileged than IT developement.

Ques-- is ITIS domain into the BPO domain or customer satisfaction.

Ques-- is this true that ITIS domain does not offer too many onsite opportunities.

Ques.-- is the growth slow in the ITIS stream as compared to IT development stream.

Ques.-- can i change my ITIS stream to IT stream if ITIS is not good or cannot provide growth.

Ques.-which one is better IT stream OR ITIS stream ?

Hoping for a speedy reply.

Hi,

I am surprised to hear that even before you join ILP; you know the domain on which you will be working after ILP. Many people do now know in which project and which domain they will be working even after a couple of months after completing ILP. I would suggest NOT to worry at this point. First complete your ILP. After your ILP, you will be reporting to your base branch where you will have to get in touch with local RMG (Resource Management Group). They will allocate you to a suitable project. It's really funny that helpline guys are telling you where you will be working after ILP.

Also, you have mentioned the stream as ITIS - I guess you are talking about IT Infrastructure and I believe that you are not from Hardware or Networking background. If it's so then it does not make any sense to put you in ITIS team.

I repeat - Do not worry and complete your ILP first. Those are the Golden Days, as I always say.

Sir, I am thankful for ur motivating reply regarding my query about ITIS.
I think so that the helpline lady must have made some mistake regarding this or she might be new herself to the help line.
If this is the case that a person gets to know his Stream after his ILP then its a huge relief for me that is I can get into the IT Development stream.

Sir, u got it right, it is IT infrastructure services but i dont know whether i am from a networking or H/W background. I have completed my graduation in Electrical Engi..

I wud surely enjoy my ILP days ..
Sir, if u come to know anything regarding this ITIS plz do reply considering all my above questions.
